    What: Family Camping Trip
    The annual Great American Campout happens at Jefferson Memorial Forest. The overnight family campout at Jefferson Memorial Forest supports Great Outdoors Month and also a national effort to raise awareness of the benefits of outdoor recreation, such as camping, as a way to connect people of all backgrounds with nature. Families will enjoy a campfire, s’mores, night hikes and other activities. In the morning, there will be an opportunity to spend the day exploring the Forest or go fishing at Tom Wallace with free fishing poles provided at the Welcome Center.
    When: Saturday, June 22, 7:00 p.m.to Sunday, June 23, 11:00 a.m.
    Fee: $25.00 per family up to 4; $5.00 per additional family member. $15.00 per platform tent rental.

  • Where: E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park
    What: Summer Flower Hike
    Now that Summer has rolled in, the landscape is changing rapidly. With the arrival of longer days and warmer temperatures, you never know what flowers will be popping up! Take a hike the park naturalist to find some of the Summer flowers around various areas of the park. We will meet at the archery range to start this hike. The hike begins at 1:00pm and ends around 3:00pm. Please dress for the weather, as this hike will continue in most conditions.
    When: 1 PM - 3 PM
    Fee: $3.00 a person, children 3 and under are FREE

    Santa is making a special stop at the Louisville Zoo and he’s bringing a bunch of his North Pole friends along too. Join the holiday cheer with Frosty the Snowman, as he leads children of all ages in a Christmas carol sing-a-long.
    Be a part of Santa’s workshop where elves help families create a wonderful holiday craft. And of course, no visit would be complete without Mrs. Claus serving her famously delicious milk and cookies (and hot chocolate or coffee too for the grown-ups.) A complementary photo with Santa will be provided to each child.
    Then grab your special Santa Safari Passport and begin your journey through the Zoo’s heated buildings to experience one-on-one interaction with Zoo animals and Zoo educators. Bring your cameras! Also includes the 4-D movie, Polar Express.

Well, climb aboard and bring the kids (and grandkids too!) to Yew Dell this holiday season for the popular Yew Dell Gardens Express – a fabulous snow village and model train display. This magical exhibit has been created by master model builder Bob Irmscher with support from some of the most talented model train enthusiasts in the region.
