    June is Kentucky Rivers Appreciation Month in the state of Kentucky. We will be acknowledging the Kentucky River, its value, history and heritage throughout the weekend. We will be having scheduled activities such as games, tours, hikes and historic presentations all weekend. This event is for registered campers only

    What: The Ohio River and Bourbon
    Join us for a special talk by bourbon historian Michael R. Veach on Sunday, June 9th at 2:00 PM in the Visitors Center entitled: "The Ohio River and Bourbon." Michael Veach is the Associate Curator of Special Collections at the Filson Historical Society. He is the author of the newly-published book from the University of Kentucky Press entitled: "Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey, An American Heritage." Mr. Veach is also a member of the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame.

    What: Walking Tour of Downtown Louisville

    Churchill Downs celebrates the pageantry, excitement and thrill of horseracing every Sunday with family-focused activities during Family Fun Days presented by Kroger. Kiddos 12 and younger are invited to enjoy games, crafts, visits from Churchill Charlie, and special weekly events on the new Plaza Balcony overlooking The Plaza. Churchill Charlie’s mascot friends are invited back for his birthday bash! His friends will join him for the “Churchill Charlie Birthday Bash-DASH Presented by Kroger”. The Birthday Bash will also include a Bubble Truck!

  • Where: Brown - Pusey House, Elizabethtown
    What: 2013 Annual Garden Tour and Tea
    The Garden Club of Elizabethtown will be hosting their 2013 Annual Garden Tour & Tea. This event must certainly be their most anticipated community function, consisting of several local gardens to tour as well as an old-fashioned “tea” in the ballroom of the historic Brown Pusey House. A display of members’ horticulture specimens is set up in the “tearoom”, with a member available to answer questions. New to this year’s event will be a fairy garden display. With admission to the tea, a map is provided to the individual gardens on tour. At each of these home gardens, a knowledgeable member will be present to answer questions, making this event fully educational to the public.

    Fee: $15 tickets include the garden map, tea, and horticulture exhibit.
