    What: River Days Festival - West Point, KY is once again home to the annual River Days Festival. For information call 502-9322-4260.


  • Where: Southwest branch of the Louisville Library – Southwest 10375 Dixie Highway Louisville,
    What: Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? - Join us for a cool storytime about polar bears and other Arctic creatures. Make a recycled craft to take home. All ages.

  • Where: On the square, 25 Public Square, Elizabethtown
    What: Historic Downtown Costumed Walking Tour - You will take a leisurely stroll back in time as you are guided through the downtown to meet prominent figures in American history such as P.T. Barnum, Jenny Lind, General George Armstrong Custer, and Carrie Nation. You will also be introduced to some not-so-famous; although some may call them infamous, local characters that have some very interesting stories to share. The tour takes about an hour and consists of walking around a block with frequent stops. For information, call 270-765-4334.

    What: Meade County Civil War Days - Morgan’s Raid at Brandenburg Riverfront. Join us as we reenact General John Hunt Morgan’s raid on Brandenburg Ky. On Friday night, the Fort Knox Band will kick off the event. On Saturday there will be a noon raid on downtown, cavalry competition, live fire mortar competition, battle scenario and a period dance. On Sunday there will be various scenarios and a battle at 2:00 p.m. Website at www.brandenburgreenactment.com. Email: morgans_crossing@yahoo.com

    What: Louisville Blues-n-Barbeque Festival - The Louisville Blues-n-Barbeque event has been heating up mid-summer since 1998, offering you a chance to kick back and enjoy the intoxicating sounds of New Orleans and Memphis. Whether you’re into hard-driving blues or the more mellow crooning blues, you’re guaranteed to hear more than your share of favorites as our live bands lay it down. And the music makes the perfect backdrop for sampling ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, and sliced beef dinners presented in a variety of styles – St. Louis, Texas, Southern, Northern – and all boasting a “secret ingredient” that none of cooks are willing to share, but all are guaranteeing makes their barbecue the best.

    What: Ahoy, Pirates! This family friendly day features crafts, games, activities and historical performances revolving around the selected theme for the month, Ahoy, Pirates! All activities are FREE to Kids Club members (for children ages 5 to 14).

Be sure to bring your blankets and lawn chairs; snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.

    Fee: Special $5 Zoo admission after 5 p.m. includes pre-movie activities, Zoo exhibits open until dusk and movie at sundown. Free for Louisville Zoo members.

    What: Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social - Enjoy old-fashioned family fun during this relaxing Sunday afternoon of music, games and great ice cream on the Ohio River. Don't miss the Ice Cream Eating Contest at 3:00 PM! Enjoy music by The MacDaddies from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and Josh and Holly from 3:30 to 5:00 PM. Concessions by: Ehrler's Ice Cream and the Kentucky Cattleman's Association. The Friends of the Southwest Library will also be holding a book sale in our auditorium as part of the event!
