What: Makerplace Family Workshop - Open Meeting and Making
Families with boys and girls grades 4 and up
The MakerPlace allows kids and families to bring ideas and inventions to life. We’ll help you find inspiration, learn to use cool tools like laser cutters and 3D printers, figure out how to turn a handful of electronics and wires into programmable machines, and much more.
Each youth that attends the workshop will be exposed to many different media: textiles, wood working, electrical circuitry, joining, cutting, laser cutting, soldering, programming, 3-D plotting, and much more! They’ll learn how these different media can be combined to create one-of-a-kind projects.
When: 10AM - 1PM
Fee: These meetings are not designed as stand-alone workshops, but as continuous sessions. You may purchase a pass for 5 meetings for $50.00. This pass is for one youth and one adult. Extra adults are $5.00 each. No youth may be dropped off at these meetings. However, one adult may accompany up to 3 youth.

What: Special Lecture: Historic Homes of Louisville by Steve Wiser
To explore the wonderful and historic locations of Louisville, architect and historian Steve Wiser will provide four (4) presentations on Louisville’s most fascinating historic houses. As author of a series of House books on the city, Mr. Wiser has served as president of the Louisville Historical League and the Central Kentucky Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Steve has written numerous books on the architecture and history of Louisville, including: “Sites to See by DESIGN,” “Historic Houses of Louisville,” “Modern Houses of Louisville,” “Distinctive Houses of Louisville,” and “Louisville Tapestry: People and Places who helped create America’s Most Livable City.”
The first lecture in Steve Wiser’s “Historic Houses of Louisville series will set the foundation for the series. It will feature the architectural styles and ‘genealogy’ of residential designs in the metro Louisville region. Also included will be a discussion of the designers who created these magnificent structures.

Fee: $10/individual lectures, $25 for the entire series
