Pumpkin Patches!

No October is complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch! Check out these local places for a fun filled fall family day!



Hinton's Orchard


Where: Hodgenville, KY - about 55 minutes away from Fort Knox
About: Hinton's Orchard is a great family run farm. Activities include hayrides that take you to the pumpkin patch, a play area and corn mazes. Hinton's Kitchen has treats like caramel apples and pumpkin flavored ice cream.
When: The farm is open from 9 AM to 6 PM, M-S and 1 PM to 6 Pm on Sundays.
Fee: Admission to the play area and corn maze is $5.00 and pumpkins cost between $2 and $8 depending on size.

Mink and Walter's Pumpkin Patch


Where: Elizabethtown, KY - about 40 minutes away from Fort Knox
About: Mink and Walter's is a family run pumpkin patch. Activities include a hay maze, corn maze, play area, and games such as a corn sand box and pumpkin checkers. There are usually live farm animals also. They sell pumpkins, gourds, straw bales and other craft items. This is not a pick your own pumpkin patch.
When: Open every day until dark
Fee: Admission is free, pumpkins start at $1.00

Thomas Dairy Farm and Market


Where: Cecilia, KY - about 25 minutes away from Fort Knox
About: Thomas Dairy Farm is a family owned farm. Activities include a hayride, pumpkin patch, 8 acre corn maze, corn pit, Walker T's Fun Zone, petting zoo, picnic area, and bonfire. They also offer zombie paintball - It looks like a hayride through the corn fields, and you shoot zombies you see in the field. On Oct. 18th, Josh Proctor, country singer, will be performing.
When: Monday - Thursday 10 AM - 6 PM; Friday 10 AM - Midnight; Saturday 11 AM - Midnight; Sunday noon - 6 PM
Fee: Admission is $7 and includes all activities
Zombie Paintball Hayride is $20.00 and includes Paintball Supplies, Flashlight Corn Maze, Huge Corn Pit, Walker T's Fun Zone, Petting Zoo, Picnic Area, bonfire. Extra paintball supplies can be purchased.

Roberts Family Farms


Where: Guston, KY - about 20 minutes away from Fort Knox
About: Roberts family farm is family owned. They have hayrides that take you to the pumpkin patch, baby goats to feed, a corn box, a big corn maze, and a barrel train for children as well as other games and face painting. They show a family movie every friday night at dark. Saturday night they have flashlight corn mazes.
When: Mon-Fri 5:30pm til dark; Saturday 1:00-10:00pm; Sunday 1:00 til dark
Fee: Corn maze - $5.00; Flashlight corn maze - $7; Feed the goats - $0.25

Crawford Farms


Where: Elizabethtown, KY - about 40 minutes away from Fort Knox
About: Crawford farms is a family owned farm. It has over 50 varieties of pumpkins and gourds. They also sell ornamental corn, jams, jellies and honey. They have a large playland and petting zoo for the children and hay rides, barrel train rides, corn and bale mazes, and a nature trail. October 11 is family day with a movie or other entertainment and admission to all activities.
When: Saturdays: 10am - 7:00 pm (*Fun Nights 7:00 pm - 10 pm); Sundays: Noon - dusk; October 6-10: 10am - dusk; all other Weekdays thru 10/31: 4pm - dusk
Fee: Family night $10; General admission rates change based on day and vary from $4 to $6.75; Hayride - $2 per person; Barrel Train Ride - $2 per ride; Unlimited Barrel Train Rides - $4; Animal Feed - $1 per cup

Hubers Farm


Where: Starlight, IN - about 65 minutes away from Fort Knox
About: Hubers farm is just over the river in Indiana. They have a lot of activities but the majority will cost you. Free activities include: Tether Ball, 40 Foot Barnyard Tunnel Slide, Tiny Tot’s Play Set. Everything else takes tickets. Ticketed activities include: (1) Giant Inflatable Slide, (3) Cow Train, (5) Live Pony Rides!! (Friday, Saturday & Sunday only – seasonal & weather permitting), (5) Cat Fishing (bait & pole included), (3) Wagon Ride, (2) Apple Toss (5 Tosses), (2) Ring Toss (5 Tosses), (5) Cartoon Corn Maze (Now through the month of October)
When: Monday – Thursday 11am -4pm; Friday – Sunday 11am – 6pm
Fee: Tickets are $1 each or 25 tickets for $20. Pumpkins are .40 per pound with a minimum charge of $4.00

Red Mill Farms


Where: Elizabethtown, KY - about 30 minutes away from Fort Knox
About: Red Mill Farms is a family owned bee farm. The website doesn't list much information about their pumpkin patch. It looks like they have a small play area for kids.

Fee: Free admission. Not sure what the prices are for pumpkins.

Deere Farms


Where: Lanesville, IN - about 60 minutes away from Fort Knox
About: This farm looks huge from the pictures! They have a large corn maze, hayride shuttles to 20 acres of pumpkin patches, hayrides, bungee jump, pony rides, animal farm, pig races, gem mining, bounce house, tire mountains, strawbale maze, slide, corn cannon, corn box, barrel train and corn hole tournaments.
When: Open Fridays at 5:00pm to dark, Saturdays at 11:00am to dark. Last maze admissions are one hour before dark. On Sundays we open at 12:00pm and close promptly at 6:00pm.
Fee: Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for kids 3-12 and free for 2 &Under. Things not included in admission are: Hayride 25 Min. Around Farm and Woods $3, Corn Cannon $1, Pony & Horse Rides $3, Barrel Train Ride $1, Gem Mining ( Gems Bag Prices Vary ) $5-9
