    What: Winter Star Stories and Sky Watch Night
    Bernheim’s night programs add mystery and magic to make memorable experiences. As winter progresses something new yet ancient appears in the heavens, and on earth. Exploring Bernheim at night provides opportunities to observe and celebrate these seasonal and nocturnal changes in our surroundings.

    What: Winter Tree Identification
    Even without leaves it’s possible to identify many of our native trees. Learn basic tips for winter tree identification in this indoor/ outdoor program. Please dress for the weather.

    What: Pollywog Play Parties: Recycle Extravaganza
    Recycling is much more than sorting paper and cans! Pollywogs will add creative fun to the recycling process by making instruments, building with boxes, bowling with recyclables, and more. . Pollywog Play Parties combine music, art, language, and outside play to encourage children, 5 and under, to learn about nature. Each play party includes a song and story circle, outdoor exploration, and a variety of art projects, science investigations, role playing challenges, and opportunities for free play.
    When: 10:30 AM - 12 PM
    Fee: $10 per child for Bernheim Members or $15 for Non-Members. Adults must accompany children; there is no fee for adults.

    What: ECO Kids Discovery Day: Bird is the Word
    While some birds migrate, some call Kentucky home year-round. Kids and their families will have fun identifying these feathered residents and then exploring Discovery Stations and the Hike of the Day during the afternoon. HANDS-ON DISCOVERY STATIONS, led by Volunteer Naturalists, at the Visitor Center from 1:00 – 4:00 P.M. ON YOUR OWN CHALLENGE, a self-guided adventure, available at the Visitor Center from 9:00 – 5:00 P.M. HIKE OF THE DAY, lead by a Bernheim guide, starts at the Visitor Center at 2:00 P.M. and runs 45 – 60 minutes

    Family - friendly makerspace workshops, led by a Kentucky Science Center educator, at the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana are a great opportunity to get involved in the exciting makerspace movement.     Join the Science Center for exclusive FREE playdates in our amazing spaces for young visitors before we open to the public. These hour-long playdates, the last Tuesday of every month and the following Saturday feature access for visitors ages 0-4 and their adult caregivers in different locations throughout the building. With no big kids in sight, little ones will be free to roam, investigate, build, experience, and learn to play in exhibits above the first floor.

    What: Kid's Workshop - Build a Race Car
    FREE hands-on workshops; designed for children ages 5 - 12. Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin. One workshop kit, apron and pin per child, while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin. Kids Workshop activities are scheduled on a first come/first served basis.
